You asked; we listened. Introducing the new
IRS Status
!
What is it?
The IRS Status is our answer to the questions you have had about whose consent has been provided for direct access to IRS transcripts and data, as well as what data and documents are available for you to review. A quick summary of the IRS Status is as follows:
IRS Data Available
- Consent has been provided, and all expected transcripts and their data are processed
Waiting for IRS Data
- Consent has been provided, and we are awaiting IRS processing
Opted Out
- The parent/guardian has opted out of providing IRS consent; they will manually complete the full application and upload all documents
IRS Consent Revoked
- The parent/guardian has revoked consent. Any data and transcripts already processed will remain available for review, but no further updated data or transcripts will be processed
IRS Rejected
- The information sent to the IRS does not match what's on file. This is typically a discrepancy of the taxpayer (parent/guardian) name or their home address when they last filed. This is fairly uncommon, and families may update their information to be resubmitted.
IRS Rejected Business
- The business information sent to the IRS does not match what's on file. This is typically a discrepancy in the business name or address.
Waiting on Taxpayer
- This will typically apply to Parent/Guardian B. A link has been sent via either email or text for the parent/guardian to provide their consent, and they have not yet taken action.
Why does it matter?
The biggest pain point expressed by you, following our initial Easy Apply rollout, has been the ambiguity of what it means if a parent or guardian has provided IRS consent and whether all the data and documents you need are ready for your review, causing confusion and your valuable time sunk into tracking down those answers from multiple sources within the Student Folder. Our aim is to maximize the efficiency of the time you're spending hunting for information by putting it all in one convenient place.
How does it work?
Updates have been made to the
Applicants, Student Folder Summary, and Documents
tabs. Let's take a quick tour!
Applicants Tab
We have added columns for the Parent A IRS Status and Parent B IRS Status, as well as corresponding filters. Since the
IRS Status
informs about the state of consent and availability of IRS data and transcripts, we have reserved the existing
Document Status
for any non-tax documents you are requiring families to upload (such as bank and mortgage statements). To help you quickly identify which folders are ready for review, we're highlighting the pencil icon in green as a clear indicator that everything is there.

Student Folder Summary
We have re-vamped the top section of the Student Folder Summary page to bring your important IRS data and documents front-and-center, in an unobtrusive, expandable drawer. When collapsed, the top of the drawer displays the Document Status and the Parent A & Parent B IRS Status. Expanding the drawer gives you a visual of all tax transcripts (both individual and business) and the Financial Baseline reports, which help to summarize that tax data. If there are any outstanding documents, we are also displaying those here.

Documents
We have given a quick facelift to the top of this page and dropped in the same easy-access drawer from the Student Folder Summary page.
